Work Offsite at Cherry Hills

 

Several years back, my work would take the managers of the Finance, IT, and Supply Chain groups offsite to talk corporate strategy and make sure the departments were aligned on the same goals.  We had not held the meeting in some number of years, but this year they brought it back and we all descended on the Cherry Hills Country Club (where at least our CFO is a member).  We spent the day going over the previous year's results and then covered this year's focus.  However the meeting also contained two surprises.  The first was a few new awards, one of which I won for Project Leadership/Excellence.  

The second surprise was our guest speaker: Terrell Davis.  He came to talk about working as a team, leadership, and other life lessons.

He was a super humble guy, but had tons of wisdom.  He was soft spoken but commanded attention.  Quite inspirational for sure!

Gage's Birthday Celebration

We had a fun time celebrating another year of Gage's life as he turned 14 years old!  It seems like the go-to celebration for him is Benihana and so here we are.  We can forgive (only partially) Gavin wearing a Colorado State sweatshirt for the evening.

We also had a celebration with Gage's friends for his birthday at our place. Blake and Alexander joined us for some pizza and laughter.

Gage's favorite part of the night was this glorious cake (that I think he actually helped bake) in a glass pan.  It must be hard to have a birthday in close proximity to Christmas, but we try to make it seem special and enjoy celebrating another year for him.
