Gage continues to get opportunities to guest play with the Real Academy team. He was invited this time to play Sporting KC and they got a pretty good game out of it.
Here is Gage in the warmups in some borrowed yellow keeper gear. That part makes him feel a bit weird as he usually has to change into this kit from them after he arrives. In any case, he was looking pretty sharp for the day.
He and Preston shared duties with Preston taking the first half and most of the second half. If I am remembering this game correctly, they were up 2-0 with about 10 minutes left so they brought in Gage to finish out the game. When they made this goalie switch, Sporting KCs attacking formation was switched up and they came down our throats for a few minutes and actually scored a goal on Gage with about five minutes to go! This put Gage and the team under some serious pressure as they fought to maintain the 2-1 score. In the end, he made a few saves and they withstood the onslaught...much to my and his relief! Quite the pressure on him, but he played well with the time he was given. I am proud of him for taking on these challenges and pushing himself!
