I guess if you need someone to fly on one of the corporate jets, I can do it! One of the responsibilities of the team I am apart of is to complete disaster recovery and business continuity exercises at each of the production plants that we have. Typically, my coworker Allison and my boss, Mark, do these but with my background in Emergency Medicine and Firefighting, I bring an interesting perspective into these exercises. So, they decided to bring me along for the trip to California to visit the Lemoore East and Tracy plants. This is a picture of our own hangar waiting room at the Broomfield/Westminster Metropolitan Airport where our company has several private jets.
It's hard to express how nice it is to park in a small lot and walk your bag into the above waiting room and then a few minutes later walk out to board a plane like this. If you want to leave a little bit late or early, you just say so and head out. This plane sits about eight or nine people comfortably.
Here is a picture of what it is like inside the plane. It has these really nice comfortable seats with basically one person on each side and an aisle down the middle. There is a bathroom in the back but seems like it might be better just to wait until you land in a smaller plane.
The in-flight meals were pretty nice too! We had breakfast burritos and a whole fruit and cold plate provided for each of us.
The work exercises were really successful and a great learning experience as we worked through what the response activities would be to some disaster scenarios. We spent a full day in Lemoore at the plant and then took the plane up to Tracy for the evening to work the next day and then flew home that evening. While we were working that day, the pilots actually flew home to Colorado and swapped out one plane for a slightly different one to take us home in... which was kind of surprise. At least they had several to choose from, I guess. I could get used to flying like this and bypassing big airports completely!
