Instrumental Tryouts

It was fun to watch Gavin try his hand at a bunch of different instruments at Westlake Middle School.  Seeing him with a clarinet made me proud (Tara speaking here), remembering my middle school days, always competing for first chair and playing Komodo Dragons like a boss.  Yes, despite my husband's doubts, I had mad instrumental skills...but I chose choir when it really came down to it ;)

Our son was always bound to pick Daddy's instrument: the trombone.  Much heavier, much more complicated (I suspect) and much manlier, which of course Brent made known ;)  There are lots of trombone players in our family, too:  Grandpa Mike (Bob), Uncle Mike, Brent...and now Gavin!  He's joining the ranks.  (It's handy that he can use Brent's instrument and super nice carrying case, too, so I'm all for that!) I think it will be a fun Father/Son activity for Brent and Gavin.
