Arm Day or Leg Day??

This picture of Gavin (and Gage) cracks me up.  Gavin has started lifting more but seems to be a bit more focused on the look factor than the strength factor.  I warned him to not be the guy with a huge upper body and tiny little skinny legs.  You can make your own judgement as to whether or not he took my advice!

Riding with Tara

We always have fun when we can get out for a ride together.  We were both wearing white kits for the day and took a nice loop around Broomfield and then I took a solo detour over to Flagstaff for a nice threshold effort.

Here is a picture from the base of Flagstaff at Chautauqua Park.  Things got really spicy very quickly after this picture!  All in all, it was a nice 47 miles and a ride time of just under 4 hours.  What a beautiful day for a ride.

CU Soccer Camp

The CU Soccer Camp has always been a fun experience as the kids get to live in the dorms for a few days and do nothing but hangout, eat, and play soccer for the week.  Here is Gavin and Tara getting ready to drop Gavin off on the first day.

Here is the inside of Gavin and his friend's room for the week.  The rooms were pretty stripped to their bare bones, but they each got their own bed and small desks for the duration of the stay.

Later on in the early evening, we returned for some of the public games that they had with the camp.  It's hard to imagine a much more beautiful campus and place to play soccer than this.  Gage came with us to cheer (or harass a bit) his brother.  Gavin is definitely on the older side of the attendees in this camp, so this will probably be his last year.  Thanks for the great experience CU Soccer!

Punks?

I am not quite sure what is happening in this picture but apparently, we have a pair of shaggy haired, white tank-topped, muscle propping hoodlums running around our living room!  Couldn't let this picture slide without hitting up the family blog.

Interior House Painting

As we slowly start working on renovating (using that term quite loosely), our first step was to move to a more uniform grey wall color from the beige/red walls we have been accustomed to over the past 15-20 years.  Gage was certainly up for the adventure and eagerly jumped in to start painting.

I took the tall shifts on the extension ladder to get all the way up to the top of twenty-foot ceilings while Gage held the ladder down below.  It was exactly for the faint of heart, though we got it done.  Was a super fun family project and now we have nice uniform wall colors set up for our eventual next steps.

Colorado Tri Triathlon

The Colorado Tri is always a fun local triathlon race and formally kicks off the local racing season.  Most of my teammates race this, as well, as a good tune up before going into the main season.  This year I swam 13:16 for the sprint distance which was not too bad.  This is me just starting out on the bike.

I did have a good ride, as seen above, I rode 42:37 and averaged 208W.

After that, it was on to the 5k run portion where I turned in a 22:13.  This picture is actually heading out on the run course with another teammate (Tyler) right behind.

The effort was good for 2nd place in my Age Group and 14th overall with a time of 1:22:15. Here is Ed and I on the podium picture for the 45-49 AG. There is no shame finishing behind him, as he is an incredible athlete.
