Broomfield Symphony Concert
I recently joined the Broomfield Symphony in a kind of random fashion. Tara had attended a concert with the kids that they put on for the Boy and the Wolf. It sounded kind of intriguing and I put out an email to see if they needed any additional trombone players. The initial response was that they had just added a 4th trombone player but would keep my in mind based on my playing history. I figured that was great because I needed to get my "chops" in shape anyway. That actually only lasted about two weeks and then I got a call saying the new addition had some work conflicts and they had an opening. It was quite the unique experience getting back to playing with a full symphony. We practice about 2.5 hours each week and then have four to five concerns throughout the year. The symphony is probably 35-40 strings, 20 winds, and 3-4 percussionists. So, it is a fairly full group. The first concert I played in only had a single piece with significant brass parts so I left the family at home, but the upcoming concert promised a much more worthy show. The kids wished me well, anyways. What a great experience to be able to have again in my life.
