Maui Trip - Day 1 (Part 1 of 5)

After much deliberation and, we decided to finally plan a vacation to Maui!  We started the journey with a comfortable 6:00 am fight (much to Tara's chagrin) from Denver to San Francisco.  With a quick hour layover pitstop, we were onto the second flight to take us to Kahului in Maui.  Everyone was pretty psyched for the week's adventures.  The airport itself is pretty neat and feels like a mix of an indoor/outdoor environment and we already got the early blast of heat and humidity as we were picking up our bags from baggage claim.

The first priority (after picking up the rental car) was to find food and hit Snorkel Bobs to get snorkeling gear for the week.  What also worked out well, was next to the Snorkel Bobs in Kihei was a restaurant that our friends had said was one of their favorites on all of Maui: Coconuts Fish Cafe.  We quickly stopped in there and Tara went with these crazy Fish tacos.

Gage and I both went with Chicken Ceaser salads, and I think Gavin had some sort of taco plate, as well.  In the end, it was good with big portions, but a little bit heavy on the sauces.

After eating, we strolled down a store or two and ended up in Snorkel Bobs to get gear for the week for all of us.  The lady who worked at the store was awesome and gave us a full rundown of the best places to go for snorkeling all over the island.  Here is Tara trying on her "premium" flippers.
