Brent at North Boulder Park Criterium

These are a few of the pictures taken at my (Brent's) last race: North Boulder Park Criterium

Unfortunately I got to the start line a bit late and ended up at the back of the pack (almost 90 guys). Big mistake, but after about 4 or 5 laps I was able to work up to the front and the picture above is of me sitting in second at the time. These darn kids (one behind me and one before me) are so strong...it makes me feel old and I am only 31! The kid behind me is a 14 year old that rides for 5280 Slipstream, the junior development team for the more notable Garmin/Slipstream/Chipotle professional team. I guess the kid has won the last 2 races in my category, so at least I am in good company.

A picture of me cornering during the race when I had moved back a few spots.

A few seconds after this picture was taken, the guy in green (team Blacksheep) pulled off and I led for a lap or so. Not wanting to pull everyone around for a free ride, I took it pretty easy and eventually some other guys came around me to do some work.

This is a bit later in the race after I had moved back a few places after a blistering attack from my teammate that kicked up the pace to almost 30 mph for a few minutes. I was cooked (if you couldn't tell from my face).

Playing in the backyard...

Brent said that this shot looks like our son is getting some good early practice for potty training. For all of you mom's with little boys out there, I keep hearing that I shouldn't even think about this transition 'til he's at least two-and-a-half and maybe even three. Any other/different opinions out there? I hear that if I wait until he's a little older the process is much quicker and less painful. I'd love to hear from anyone who has some personal experiences to share about potty training boys. The whole deal seems rather daunting at this point, I have to be honest.
Gavin really wanted to make sure that the tree got a drink . He loves helping us water...and then getting soaked himself. It will be fun to let him run through the sprinklers this summer!

Precious moments with Mom...

Look at this sweet little boy! He's growing up so fast!!! He's talking up a storm lately. I read today that an average toddler his age may learn up to ten new words a day, and I believe it when I listen to him! His cutest words lately are "namoose" (caboose) and "ning cheese" (string cheese). He put his fire truck and school bus in time out on the stairs today and then came to get them later. So funny!
Daddy captured this adorable shot on our way to the park the other day. And, better yet, he used it in my Mother's Day gift: a two sided frame with this picture on one side and Gavin's hand print and message on the other side. I love holding my son's hand.

Watching some Nemo...

I don't think that Gavin watched 20 seconds of TV for the first year + of his life, but I do confess that now he's pretty hooked on "Finding Nemo" and "Cars." In fact, there was a week or two when watching one or both of those videos (not in their entirety, of course) was just a regular part of our routine around here. And I have to say that Nemo buys me some time to clean up the kitchen and take a sneak trip upstairs or shower quickly before Gavin even realizes that I'm gone :) (And we wonder where this guy gets his sneakiness?)
Sometimes one of us will cozy up next to Gavin to watch a little "Memo" (Gavin's version) ourselves, and that's always a welcome break.
