Maui Trip - Day 2 (Part 2 of 5)
This is looking up towards the Waiakapuhi Lava Field and is the main source of all of this recent volcanic activity and rock in this area.
Here are the guys along this makeshift trail across the lava field. At some points it was pretty hard to find the path. This particular spot had this almost "blow hole" like feature where the waves would crash and shoot up water through this little slit on the side of Gage.
Along the way we found this really crazy set of bones that looked bleach white. They were picked clean of any sort of flesh components, but it was really hard to figure out what the story was behind the bones.
That is, until we found these guys prancing along. I guess they would be Hawaiian goat bones. It's hard to figure out what they were doing here in the middle of this big volcanic rock field. We ran into two separate sets of three to four of these guys along the trail. Quite interesting!
